About William "Liam" McFarlane

William “Liam” McFarlane is a Canadian mountain bike racer from Collingwood, Ontario. He races Junior (U19) cross-country Olympic (XCO) and short track (XCC) for Collingwood Collective Racing. After winning the 2025 Canadian U17 XCO title, Liam stepped up to the international level in 2026, racing for Canada in the Junior World Cup Project against the best juniors in the world. Off the bike, he keeps school a priority and volunteers as a coach for the club’s younger riders, giving back to the community that got him started.

LIAM’S 2027 SEASON

2027 is Liam’s second year as a Junior (U19), and he’s going after it. His first season took him all the way to the World Championships with Team Canada. Now the goal is results on the international stage. The tentative plan: the Pan American Championships in Chile, a Team Canada block in Europe, Canadian Nationals at Mont-Sainte-Anne, and the World Championships in Les Gets, France. Along the way, he’s keeping school a priority and giving back to young riders at home.

2026: THE NEXT LEVEL

Liam’s first Junior season was a big step up. He raced 15 times across six countries, from Puerto Rico and the US to Germany, Czechia, Switzerland and Italy, lining up against the best Junior (U19) riders in the world. Along the way, he finished 4th at the Canadian Championships, took 6th of 101 in Virginia and 6th in Canmore, both UCI Junior Series races, and raced for Team Canada in Europe and at the World Championships.
